1-Minute Wisdom: What's in Your Worry Box?
This is part of my blog series Practical Self-Help for Introspective People.
Pay attention to what you pay attention to.
— Amy Krouse Rosenthal
Hey, friends!
Here's today's idea: Consider what you worry about. What's in your worry box?
Hold each worry in your hand and ask:
Can I control this?
If not, accept things as they are.
Can I improve this?
If so, make one tiny change.
Is now the time to improve this?
If not, then wait.
Examples
Personally, my worry box is full of things like Russian imperialism, getting more subscribers, and learning Spanish.
Now, I have no control over world affairs, but I can try to anticipate supply chain disruptions by having a little extra food on hand.
I have some influence over my subscriber count. So, I'll publish shorter pieces and post more often. And I'll test out the Minto Pyramid. Hopefully, these actions increase my subscriber count.
Lastly, there are things I can do to learn Spanish, but those things need to wait. My plate is full, and I’m unwilling to drop something to make room for Spanish.
That's me. What about you?
